Grand Opening of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Faculty of Arts and Culture, Eastern University, Sri Lanka

The Faculty of Arts and Culture of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, proudly marked a historic milestone with the ceremonial opening of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology on 14th May 2026 at the Faculty premises.

The Department was officially declared open by Prof. P.Peratheepan, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Sri Lanka,. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. K. Suresh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Culture, and the presence of academic community of the faculty. As key highlight of this event, Mrs.Paheerathy Moses is appointed as Head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and Prof. N. Pushparajah is appointed Head of the Department of Social Sciences.

The opening ceremony concluded successfully with the participation and support of the university community, marking the beginning of a new academic chapter for Eastern University, Sri Lanka.
